Joris’ global career in creating engagement encompasses 17 years, 15 countries and 7 languages. He is currently Implementation Lead for The Octalysis Group, working with No.1 Gamification Guru Yu-kai Chou for clients world-wide.
As a diplomat in the Netherlands Foreign Service, Joris was responsible for creating people-engagement in situations where this was hard to achieve. His assignments led him to live and work in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burundi, Congo, Cambodia, Laos, Pakistan, Rwanda and Thailand. His main successes were in creating innovative training and virtual engagement approaches with rebel groups, government soldiers, public-private partnerships and refugees. He also authored and coached the virtual training missions for the NATO mission in Afghanistan (ISAF).
In his work as Global Advisory Manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers, he continued his engagement consulting services and became involved in a large overhaul of the United Nations to achieve better engagement of the organization with its members and beneficiaries.
Before joining The Octalysis Group he focused on the Human Resources Industry, and was alos involved in implementing innovative ways for virtual, distance HR and Project Management methods in Finance, Oil and Gas and IT industries.
Joris is passionate about implementing Gamification solutions in social sectors to tackle the current public-private engagement crisis in education, healthcare and civil governance.
